Cougar Head Coach Larry Thompson - 2006 Inductee
Larry is a 1970 graduate of Lakeville High School and a graduate of Augsburg College. He has been involved in Lakeville Schools for 44 years. His athletic career as a Lakeville High School athlete includes captaincies, and All Conference honors in football, basketball and baseball. He was named Lakeville High School Outstanding Athlete in 1970. At Augsburg College, he was a two year All American in football and a member of their Athletic Hall of Fame. As a 30 year coach at Lakeville High School and now at Lakeville South High School, he is a five time Minnesota "Coach of the Year" recipient and Football State Champs in 1988 (4A), 1992 (5A) and 2003 (5A). Coach Thompson has also been named the KARE11 Prep Sports Extra Coach of the Year twice. Larry has coached three Lakeville teams to state runner-up finishes. Among active Minnesota High School football coaches, Larry Thompson ranks 9th all time in the state with 225 victories at the conclusion of the 2009 season. Among all coaches in the history of the state, Coach Thompson has moved up to #22 in number of victories. Coach Thompson's career record stood at 225-108-1 at the conclusion of 2009.
