The 2011 football season is coming soon and we could not be more excited. We just had a great summer camp session with most of the players in our program and on August 15, we will start officially preparing for the 2011 season with two-a-day practices.
One great tradition that we started in 2010 was the Lakeville South Football "Captain's Club". We got alot of great feedback from people on this last year and we will be continuing this in 2011. The Captain's Club is for those family and friends of the Cougar Football Program that want to get an inside view on what we are doing as a program each week during the season. We also have some nice gifts for each member of the Captain's Club that we give out.
Prior to the season and then each week during the season, myself and our coaching staff put together a recap of the previous game, a preview of our upcoming game and include game and season statistics. We include the highlights, the lowlights and everything in between, and send this out exclusively to our Captain's Club members each week through a personalized email. In addition to the weekly letters from myself, we are also going to be giving out 2 Captain's Club Coffee mugs this year to every member of the Captain's Club. Not only are the mugs nice to have around the house, these mugs will allow all members to get free coffee or hot chocolate this year at all home games.
In addition, all Captain's Club members are featured on our website at www.lakevillesouthfootball.com as a thank you for your support.
The annual Captain's Club membership is $50 this year and we would like to encourage any family that is able to do so to please support our program by becoming involved as a Captain Club member. We would also like to encourage all players and families to solicit others to become involved as a Captain's Club member. We had many Captain's Club members last year that were alumni, extended family or people in the community that have an interest in Cougar Football and I know they really enjoyed getting weekly updates on our team. If each player in our program can send an email or call 5-10 people they know to encourage them to become members, this can be a great benefit for our program. Unfortunately, funding for our program continues to be a major item on our agenda as a booster club. The school district continues to look at budgets and anyone reading the news knows it is not getting easier for athletic programs in many communities, so anything we can do to continue our tradition of having a quality program for the kids in our community is helpful.
I appreciate everyone's help and support in growing the Captain's Club in 2011 and I look forward to seeing everyone this season as our team prepares for another great year!
